Wakin’ and Bakin’

As performed on the album Roller Derby Saved My Soul

The sunlight glides like honey across her perfect naked butt
The smoke that she tokes floats like dandelion seeds in the breeze
And though it’s almost noon, I’ve got nothing else I’ve gotta do
and nowhere else that I would rather be

She rolls over onto my shoulder, lets her hair fall in my face
I kiss her, then I kiss her again
she says, “I don’t want to wreck this, but I think I need some breakfast
and I just can’t seem to get up out of bed.”

I’m wakin’ and bakin’
with a butt-naked angel
How can so much of something so fine be all mine?
When I think I just can’t make it,
she’s always there to ease the pain now
Stealing my heart one toke at a time

She likes to do it in the morning, then go back to sleep
She does it one more time after the alarm
She does it in the shower, two more times before supper
and after that she does it all night long

I’m wakin’ and bakin’
with a butt-naked angel
How can so much of something so fine be all mine?
When I think I just can’t make it,
she’s always there to ease the pain now
Stealing my heart one toke at a time

Darling, I know that you’re the only one for me
You fill my head with a very special kind of buzz
That’s why I’ve got something real important that I want to say to you, and I will
Just as soon as I remember what it was

I’m wakin’ and bakin’
with a butt-naked angel
How can so much of something so fine be all mine?
When I think I just can’t make it,
she’s always there to ease the pain now
Stealing my heart one toke
Yeah, stealing my heart–just one more toke
Stealing my heart one toke at a time
